For more information, check out this information on tomato sizes from the USDA.

According to the USDA, these are the dimensions for various sizes of tomatoes:

Note that “minimum diameter” means that the tomato will not pass through a round opening of the designated diameter when the tomato is placed with the greatest transverse diameter across the opening.

Note that “maximum diameter” means that the tomato will pass through a round opening of the designated diameter in any position.

How Much Does A Cherry Tomato Weigh?

A cherry tomato weighs between 0.5 and 2 ounces (14 to 57 grams), making them the smallest tomatoes available. Most cherry tomatoes weigh about 1 ounce (28 grams), with a diameter of about 1 inch (2.5 centimeters).

Cherry tomatoes are small, but you can get lots from one plant!

The small size of cherry tomatoes is offset by the large amount of fruit that you get from a single plant. Some cherry tomato varieties can produce hundreds of little tomatoes in a single season!

Even better, indeterminate cherry tomato varieties will keep producing fruit throughout the growing season.
