About GreenUpside

Hello there! I’m Jonathon – welcome to my website, greenupside.com!

If you’re here, then you’re probably already convinced about the upside of having a green garden.

I think gardening is a great hobby to help you stay in shape and get back to nature for a while – not to mention the delicious fruits, vegetables, and herbs you can grow!

The purpose of GreenUpside is to answer questions and troubleshoot problems related to gardening in a helpful, informative way. That’s it!

I am a teacher and tutor by profession (add me on LinkedIn!), so I enjoy learning and sharing knowledge with others. This site is a perfect way to do just that!

I garden in Zone 6b in Massachusetts (close to Zone 7a in Boston and on Cape Cod), so it can get as cold as -5 degrees Fahrenheit during winter (but gardeners don’t let a little cold stop them!)

There are so many aspects of a garden that are enjoyable, especially after you overcome any challenges that may arise – just think about it:

  • the therapeutic time spent working the soil and planting seeds
  • the joy of watching seedlings emerge from the earth
  • the lush, green foliage that appears as the season goes on
  • the vivid color and flavor that appear when tomatoes, carrots, squash, peppers, berries, apples, peaches, and all the rest of your favorites start to mature by the work of your own hands

I started this website because I enjoy these same things.

Potato plants growing in a big blue container a few years ago. The plants were big, but the potatoes were not. The problem: a lack of sunlight – live and learn!

I want others to experience the joy of a green garden and fresh home-grown produce, along with the work and learning it takes to get there.

It won’t be easy, but I assure you that the journey will be worthwhile!

Hopefully, I can help you to avoid some of the most common gardening mistakes.

If not, we just might be able to solve any problems you encounter.

Keep on growing your garden, and stop by anytime!

Best,

Jonathon
