Black Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis) can grow up to 20 feet tall, and survives up to Zone 3 (-40 degrees Fahrenheit or -40 degrees Celsius).

Can You Eat Black Elderberry?

Black Elderberry is a flowering shrub that produces black berries. These berries are edible after cooking, and you can use them to make syrup, gummies, jam, jelly, pie, tea, wine, and dye.

Remember that you have to cook elderberry fruit before eating it! Also, the roots, twigs, and leaves are all toxic.
